FINCA LERIDA
Finca Lerida's reputation is as old as the first shipment of Panamanian coffee. From its spectacular landscape sprang a coffee that would soon attract consumers worldwide because of its exceptionally high quality.
In 1924, engineer Toleff Bache Mönniche and his wife moved to Finca Lerida. Here, he built his house completely by hand in a Norwegian countryside style and developed the first Panamanian coffee plantation by gravity: A system where the coffee cultivation or processing takes advantage of natural slopes and gravity for its operations.
In 1929, Finca Lerida exported its first shipment of coffee to Germany, establishing Panama's reputation as a producer of high-quality exotic coffees.
Finca Lerida is managed by the Amoruso Family, who coordinate the appropriate coffee growth process and protect the lush virgin forest surrounding the plantation. The hotel Finca Lerida, located in the middle of the coffee plantation, offers a unique lodging experience for visiting coffee lovers.
Finca Lerida comprises five farms (Lerida Estate, Esplendorosa Estate, Amelia Estate, El Salto Estate, and Flora Estate) established at altitudes ranging between 1500 and 2000 meters.
With its special atmospheric and topographic conditions, Finca Lérida grows several arabica varietals: Geisha, Pacamara, Catuai, and Typica.
